Catch A Fire (CD)
Bob Marley & The Wailers
Amoeba Review

Catch a Fire is the major-label debut by Bob Marley and the Wailers; it was released and distributed by Chris Blackburn’s Island Records in April of 1973, and it made the group international stars. This is the core lineup at its finest: Bob Marley, Bunny Livingston, and Peter Tosh. They blend driving minimalism, political discourse, and an unabashed optimism for music, and its ability to affect positive social change. This was a heady, unexpected jolt for the rest of the world in 1973, and the message of militant love resonated. “Concrete Love” and “Stir It Up” are urban classics, and Catch a Fire is the essential Wailers album.
