By Myself

Billy Porto , Gene Di Stasio Brass '68

Amoeba Review

11/12/2012

Billy Porto swings, preens and torch sings through this album filled with Jazz standards and Pop songs. Porto is accompanied by a large Jazz ensemble on all tracks; his vocal stylings sound a tad like early solo period Scott Walker. The stand out track is "By Myself" with its beatnik coffee house percussion sound. A few of the the covers are cringy but in general Porto and band make a decent Jazz Vocal album.
