Remastered LP.
The Rolling Stones released Some Girls in 1978, when punk had broken and disco was in full effect, leaving the Rolling Stones looking a bit dated. Instead of retreating, Jagger and co. released one of their most successful albums ever, one that reflected changes happening in rock 'n' roll and recognized their own influence on such musics, from the disco-blues of “Miss You” through the spazzy new-wave of “Shattered,” without which it's hard to picture bands from Devo to Life Without Buildings. The remaster gives the drums especially a terrific crispness. And the bonus disc is far from inessential, showing a range of different tacks the band could have taken on Some Girls, including the country jangle of “Claudine” and the rollicking “Do You Think I Really Care,” in which Jagger outsneers the punks coming up behind him.
Also available as 2-CD Deluxe Edition.
