The sound of a prom band in 1964 getting dosed with acid and having the sweetest lovelorn freak out. Imagine a brawling Etta James, backed up by the 13th Floor Elevators singing Shangri La's tunes. It doesn't sound exactly like that, but imagine it. If I ever get a time machine that's the first thing I'm going to try to get to happen. Shannon has a voice that can go from a sweet girl group croon to a bluesy ballsy growl before you realize you're headed for the floor. This is their debut full length following hot on the heels of the "Hunk Hunt" 7" on Weird Hug Records.
