Having met in a Mexican thrash-metal band, these two guitarists decided they wanted to move beyond the basics of rock, and so began their music explorations, fusing jazz, metal, blues, and all sorts of indigenous styles into their hard-charging acoustic flamenco interplay. Though it doesn’t feature the obvious crowd-pleasers of their debut (blazing flamenco covers of Zeppelin and Metallica that wowed even serious metalheads), this is a more serious and exploratory work, dedicating each track to a particular musical influence (Santana, Hendrix, Paco de Lucia, and Dimebag Darrell, natch). Each song sounds like a chapter in a vast song suite, and their balance of thunderous rhythm and delicate melody is sustained through some soaring, tortuous pathways.
