If you’ve ever thought that summertime electro-pop could use a touch of hipster sleaze, Seattle’s Motopony’s debut might be up your street. This thing trades sleepy avant-folk numbers with reverie-busting indie pop, all carried along by singer/songwriter Daniel Blue’s understated, high-pitched vocal poetry. The instruments pass through like lazy clouds with the occasional storm system—there are synthy moments (“Wait For Me”), brush drums (“King of Diamonds”), acoustic ballads and forays into soul (“Seer”). This thing sparkles with quirk and charm.
