Lebanese producer Rabih Beaini seems unconcerned with the dynamics of the dancefloor. There are nods to it on this album, but more important seem the atmospherics that his techno ancestors dabbled in: the bass improvisations of Cerrone ("Silent Screamer"), the world/techno fusion of Eno and David Byrne ("Gates of Night"), while the spirit of Klaus Schulze hovers over the whole spaced-out proceeding. Decidedly un-housey, there are moments when the pound of house beats do stomp all over the party ("Spiral", "Wild In Captivity"), but all in all, a great record. - J. Mark Beaver, Hollywood
