This forward-thinking electro-hop along the lines of Flying Lotus seeks to engage its listeners’ minds two-fold: both through its jazz-inspired musicality, and through its vocal samples, which consist of snippets of Civil Rights speeches that ring just as true today, given the increasing polarization and political grandstanding punctuated by fear and hate currently on display. The end result is truly inspiring, and listening is a brilliant way both to celebrate Black History Month and get fired up for the oncoming election season.
