Four Tet’s highly anticipated 2010 full-length continues in the minimal dancefloor friendly vein of his 2008 Ringer EP as well as recent collaborations with Burial and Rusko. There Is Love In You is by far the most dance-oriented record Kieran Hebden has made to date. That said it still exhibits this producer’s beautiful melodic writing and organic production. Incorporating elements of warm jazz and soulful vocals, tracks like “Love Cry” and “Angel Echoes” rank among the most enjoyable and engaging music Hebden has made. For the rest of the record he mashes together influences ranging from the motorik propulsion of krautrock and Italo disco’s dirty funk to the cyclical percussion of Steve Reich. Overall, it seems this will be remembered as one of Four Tet’s most inspired and well executed records. Highly recommended. - James Elliot
