Los Angeles-based Everest is a sort of indie rock supergroup with members who were part of The Folk Implosion, Sebadoh, Earlimart, John Vanderslice, The Watson Twins, and more. But instead of following directly in the footsteps of their indie rock pasts, they made an accoustic, dreamy, 1970s-style alt-country/rock record. To complete the warmth and simplicity of their music, they used Elliott Smith's recording studio, New Monkey, which features vintage recording equipment. The result is a beautiful folk-rock album that could easily slide in next to Neil Young, Wilco, or Ryan Adams.
