After a ten-year hiatus, beloved Aussie pop kings Crowded House are back, first with '07's Time On Earth and now with this new one. Neil Finn's Beatlesque pen just can't quit writing those mellifluous, flowing, memorable tunes, though this is very much a band effort. Although known for MOR confections like "Don't Dream It's Over," they are equally capable of grittier stuff, some of which gets aired here, like the winding, psychedelic "Isolation" and the dark "Amsterdam." Nice production throughout, including occasional alt-country touches like pedal steel and fingerpicking. Ambitious, worthy stuff from a band that's back to stay.
