Join us for a conversation and performance with St. Vincent at the GRAMMY Museum in downtown LA on Thursday, March 20! Annie Clark has just released her fourth album, St. Vincent (Universal), which our reviewer described as "absolutely breathtaking" and the NY Times called "dulcet and ferocious, meticulous and deranged."

Amoeba sponsors The Drop: St. Vincent, an interview with GRAMMY Museum Executive Director Bob Santelli, and performance with Ms. Clark. Doors are at 7:30 on 3/20 and the event begins at 8pm. Tickets are on sale now for $25. Get your tickets here.

Amoeba Presents The Drop at The Grammy Museum With Benmont Tench

benmont techAmoeba Music is proud to be a sponsor of The Drop at the Grammy Museum featuring Benmont Tench on Feb. 13 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available here. The show will feature a solo performance by Tench, as well as a conversation with the artist.

Who is Benmont Tench, you might ask? The keyboardist has been called the quintessential sideman. He's a founding member of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, having played on all of their recordings, the list of other artists whose recordings he's played on represents some of the all-time cream of the crop, including Stevie Nicks, Willie Nelson, Green Day, Bob Dylan, Neil Diamond, Dixie Chicks, The Replacements, John Prine, Waylon Jennings, John Fogerty, Elvis Costello, The Rolling Stones and Johnny Cash.

Civil War Music Comes Alive at The Grammy Museum

divided & united the songs of the civil war cdThe show kicks off the album Divided & United: The Songs of the Civil War, which features songs from the Civil War era, as picked by Randall Poster, a music supervisor who has worked with the likes of Wes Anderson, Martin Scorcese and Todd Haynes. The album, out Nov. 5 on ATO Records, is available for preorder now and includes 32 tracks on two discs, with appearances by the aforementioned artists plus Loretta Lynn, Steve Earle, Old Crow Medicine Show, Dolly Parton and many more.

Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion Perform Live at the Grammy Museum

The alternative folk rock husband-and-wife duo Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion celebrate the upcoming release of Wassaic Way with a live performance at the GRAMMY Museum in downtown LA on Tuesday, July 16 at 8pm. It's all a part of the Drop Series sponsored by Amoeba Music.

Hear Guthrie and Irion discuss how their music departs from a folk duo and enters a dynamic soundscape of loud guitars, lushness, pop, and edge. Moderated by GRAMMY Museum Executive Director Bob Santelli, the duo will also take audience questions and perform a selection of songs.

Molly Ringwald to Perform at the GRAMMY Museum

Remember Sixteen Candles? What if instead of being so passive about her thing for hunky Jake Ryan, Molly Ringwald’s Samantha Baker serenaded him with “Don’t You Forget About Me” until he succumbed to her wiles?

molly ringwald except sometimesYou can hear that song and more when Ringwald performs at the GRAMMY Museum for The Drop, sponsored by Amoeba Music, on May 20 at 8:00 p.m. The singer and actress recently released her debut record, Except…Sometimes, a collection of standards and well as covers done in a jazz style, with song selection ranging from standards like "The Very Thought of You" to Madonna's "Sooner or Later" (written by Stephen Sondheim) to Simple Minds’ classic song.

Though she’s primarily known for her run of ’80s flicks directed by John Hughes and as a member of the Brat Pack, Ringwald has been singing since childhood, releasing her first album at the age of 6 called I Wanna Be Loved By You, Molly Sings. Her father also was a Dixieland musician in The Fulton Street Jazz Band, inviting Ringwald to sing onstage at the age of 3. She also has continued acting, starring over the past few years in the TV show “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”
