Our friends at the Film Noir Foundation present Noir City Xmas, their 5th annual holiday double feature, on Wednesday, December 17th at San Francisco's majestic Castro Theatre. Eddie Muller, your host for the evening and founder/president of the Film Noir Foundation, will reveal the schedule and the hot new poster for the eagerly anticipated NOIR CITY 13 festival, which runs January 16-25, 2015!

The holiday-themed features for the evening will be:

O. Henry's Full House (1952, 117 minutes) This anthology of short stories by America's master of the O. Henry's Full House, Marilyn Monroeironic twist is as entertaining as it is star-studded, featuring juicy roles for Richard Widmark, Anne Baxter, Farley Granger, Marilyn Monroe, Charles Laughton, Jean Peters, and many more. 20th Century-Fox employed several of its most renowned directors — Henry Hathaway, Henry King, Howard Hawks, Henry Koster, and Jean Negulesco — to bring to life such famous O. Henry tales as "The Last Leaf," "The Clarion Call," and the Christmas classic "The Gift of the Magi." Each segment is introduced by John Steinbeck!

The Curse of the Cat People (1944, 70 minutes) This sequel to 1942's The Cat People is a stunner Curse of the Cat Peopleon many levels. Far from being a horror story, it's a poignant and deeply felt meditation of the pain and loneliness of childhood, and perhaps the most sublime and personal film in the career of legendary producer Val Lewton. Eight-year-old Ann Carter gives a mesmerizing performance as imaginative little Amy, with Simone Simon (the original Cat Woman) reappearing as her imaginary friend. A spellbinding classic, co-directed by Robert Wise.

This festival kicks off with a tribute to special guest star Peggy Cummins, legendary for her ferocious performance as carnival sharpshooter Annie Laurie Starr in Gun Crazy (1950). Opening weekend will feature the world premiere of two of the Film Noir Foundation's latest film restoration projects Try and Get Me! (1950) and Repeat Performance (1949).

But that's not all! The hugely popular Noir City Nightclub returns on Saturday night, February 2, 2013. Partiers will time travel to 1949 for an extraordinary evening of scintillating music, sexy striptease, dancing, and drinking ($5 cocktails— beat that price!), all in a new vintage venue, the Regency Lodge (1290 Sutter Street at Van Ness). This year's show, emceed by "Czar of Noir" Eddie Muller, includes the sizzling jazz of the Dmitri Matheny Group (unveiling its "Crime Scenes Suite"), the sultry pop-noir stylings of Erin Brazill and the Brazillionaires ("The Hitchcock Suite"), the return of international striptease sensation Evie Lovelle, torch song temptress Laura Ellis, and the uniquely soulful and sinister serenades of El Radio Fantastique! Best of all, festival screenings are arranged so NOIR CITY attendees can attend the soiree without missing a single film!

NOIR CITY -- the most popular film noir festival in the world -- celebrates its 10th anniversary with aLaura, Dana Andrews, Gene Tierney, Noir, Film Noir, poster 10-day film extravaganza featuring San Francisco treats, a Dashiell Hammett marathon, freshly preserved 35mm rarities, by-popular-demand encore screenings, surprises galore, and super special guest star ANGIE DICKINSON!

Noir City promises that this will be the darkest and most delirious incarnation yet of San Francisco's popular classic film festival!

Presented under the auspices of the Film Noir Foundation, NOIR CITY remains the only film festival in the world that donates 100% of its profits to the rescue, restoration, and preservation of endangered films---a mission ever more crucial as the world rushes to exclusively embrace digital cinema presentation. "If at-risk films aren't preserved in 35mm within the next two years," says FNF president and NOIR CITY host Eddie Muller, "it could be too late. It's the only guaranteed method of long-term survival. Soon, labs won't exist to do the photo-chemical work, and many films deserving of restoration will be lost in the rush to an all-digital future. Saving films in their original celluloid form is the only way to ensure their survival in any media."

As an added attraction, this year's festival features the live event Everyone Comes to Eddie's: The Noir City Nightclub, a nocturnal celebration of noir style, presented Saturday night, January 28, at theSwedish-American Hall. Entertainment includes Mr. Lucky and the Cocktail Party with Ralph Carney, torch-song temptress Laura Ellis, renowned burlesque queen Evie Lovelle (flying in from France!), and Kansas City's cutting-edge noir-rockers The Latenight Callers. Revelers can party like it's 1949!
