lp singerPop-rock singer LP will appear at The GRAMMY Museum Sept. 3 for The Drop, featuring a performance as well as a discussion with the artist. Amoeba is proud to be a sponsor of the event. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here. The show starts at 8 p.m.

New York-born Laura Pergolizzi is known for her shock of dark, curly hair, androgynous glam style and, most of all, a powerful set of pipes that leave most of her pop contemporaries in the dust. LP cut her teeth writing songs for other people, such as Rihanna’s “Cheers (Drink to That)” and Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful People,” while also driving a van around the country, playing 250 shows a year. A number of previous major-label debuts didn’t pan out, but LP persevered and released her first EP, the live release Into the Wild: Live at EastWest Studios, in 2012. Now she’s finally released her debut LP, the upbeat, charming Forever For Now, produced by GRAMMY-winning producer and Warner Bros. Records chairman Rob Cavallo.

A performance will be accompanied by a discussion moderated by VP of The GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares, Scott Goldman.

Check out the video for her track “Into the Wild,” featuring LP’s expert ukulele and whistling talents:

LP is also known for her covers and viral videos of her performance. Check out this cover of Beyonce’s “Halo.” She really nails it. And that girl in the front loves it!
