Guitarist/vocalist Clementine Creevy started writing songs as a teen and found herself making demos in between studying for class and doing homework. After hooking up with schoolmate and drummer Hannah Uribe and recruiting bassist Sean Redman, Clementine's demos became the foundation for the newfound Cherry Glazerr.
What exactly is a Cherry Glazerr anyway? Is it a quirky name for a trendy new craft cocktail on the menu at Mohawk Bend? The answer is so much cooler than that! Cherry Glazerr take their name from KCRW morning news anchor Chery Glaser. The irony is, 2/3 of Cherry Glazerr's members are not old enough to legally drink and the morning news is usually listened to by old responsible adults on their drive to the office. Sounds worlds apart right? Not too long ago, Clementine Creevy found herself tuned into the morning news as her mom drove her to school. Little did Chery Glaser know, not only was she informing folks about their traffic and weather, she was also influencing a budding rock star!
Fast forward a year or so later and Cherry Glazerr have already racked up some impressive gigs, opening for Hunx and His Punx, Redd Kross, Mikal Cronin and performing at South By Southwest. Their debut album, Haxel Princess (Burger Records, 2014), is a fiery 10 song batch of fun goodness. Go get your Cherry Glazerr on and make sure to catch this awesome band live.
Clem, Sean and Hannah visited Amoeba Hollywood recently and shared their purchases in our newest "What's In My Bag?" episode. The band shares a love of French music and they selected albums by Serge Gainsbourg, a French girl group compilation, and contemporary French band La Femme. But it's not only French tunes. They also pick up Joni Mitchell's Blue, the Black Moth Super Rainbow side project Tobacco, Raw Power by Iggy & the Stooges and more.
Watch the episode below their entire haul from Amoeba.
