This week organizers at the big annual Primavera Sound Festival, that happens every late May/early June in Barcelona Spain, announced this year's line-up with some impressive headliners at the multi-stages event that is traditionally rock oriented with some dance and hip-hop with this year featuring a bit more than in past.
Known for booking well-established longtime acts alongside newer acts Primavera's 2014 line-up does not disappoint with a list that includes Kendrick Lamar, Queens of the Stone Age, The National, Arcade Fire, Haïm, The Pixies, Foals, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Television (performing their classic 1977 album Marquee Moon in its entirety), Neutral Milk Hotel, Nine Inch Nails, Drive-By Truckers, Laurent Garnier, Chvrches, and Slowdive who will reunite at the Barcelona festival to play their first gig together in over a decade.
And to promote this year's festival Primavera founder Pablo Soler commissioned the most unique 26 minute mini feature film (above) that was made by Alex Julia and filmed in Detroit. Not your traditional promo video by any means this is a full movie - a drama featuring its lead subject driving round desolate Detroit and suburban Michigan in deep winter, with a portable record player on the passenger seat of his beat up hooptie playing albums, as he tries to find his way to a Pixies concert. Along the way there are clever hints of the Primavera 2014 line-up such as the posters on the record store wall (Found Sound) or the Queens of the Stone Age on the back of his car. Below is a poster with the complete extensive line-up for the three day (May 29, 30, 31st) festival that costs 250 Euro ($339 approx). Get tix and more info here.
