The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, LL Cool J, Whodini, and Jam Master Jay solo set all on the one bill? Wow! What a line-up that was for that historic hip-hop show at Philly's Spectrum Stadium back in July of 1986. This cool collectible item (a reproduction poster 14" by 22" that is printed on heavy cardboard) is just one of the many posters for sale from Amoeba - both in store and online from the Amoeba.com shop. Click here to find out more about purchasing it and click here for listings of more posters to buy from Amoeba's online store. The numerous posters on sale at Amoeba include rare, vintage, and current posters and include many genres of music including lots of rock and soul.

Rap/hip-hop artist posters at the online store include a cool 2Pac 1971 - 1996 poster, a 2Pac and Snoop poster, a Drake poster, an NWA The World's Most Dangerous Group poster, and both a Notorious B.I.G. commemorative poster and a BIggie Ready To Die poster. Please note that the amount of hip-hop posters online at Amoeba.com is relatively few in comparison to the range available in the three Amoeba stores.

And good news:  in those three Amoeba stores, as of tomorrow (Saturday June 30th) will be an across the board poster sale (in store only) with big reductions on posters (Saturday June 30th) through July 4th.

Amoeba San Francisco Hip-Hop Top Five Week Ending 06:29:12

1) El-P Cancer4Cure (Fat Possum)

2) Kool Keith Love and Danger (Junkadelic Music)

3) J Dilla Rebirth of Detroit (Yancey Music Group)

4)  Odd Future The Odd Future Tape Vol. 2 (Odd Future)

5) Oh No "3 Dollars (feat MF Doom)" 5" single (Traffic Entertainment)

The number one chart entry this week on the San Francisco Amoeba Music hip-hop top five chart is El-P's highly recommended new album Cancer4Cure which is dedicated to his late friend/label-mate/musical collaborator Camu Tao who passed four years ago at age 30 from cancer. The producer/emcee EL-P (pictured above left) was in San Francisco yesterday to headline a concert at the Regency on Van Ness last night in a show that also featured friends/album guests eXquire and Killer Mike (whose equally excellent new album R.A.P. Music EL-P produced in its entirety). Before the show I had a chance to chat with EL-P for a little bit.  I asked him, since his new album was released on Fat Possum and not on his own label Definitive Jux which is reportedly on permanent hiatus with many recently speculating that it is gone for good, will Def Jux (as it is also known) ever be back? He said yes, maybe. The full EL-P interview will appear here at a later date.

Other top selling hip-hop releases at the San Francisco Amoeba store this week include Kool Keith's Love and Danger, the late great & posthumously prolific J Dilla's Rebirth of Detroit (that is released via his mom's Yancey Music Group label) and the ever-popular LA hip-hop collective  Odd Future's The Odd Future Tape Vol. 2. The #5 hip-hop chart entry this week is not a full-length but a single - and a unique one at that - a 5" single from Oh No for the song "3 Dollars" featuring MF Doom (aka DOOM) and taken the new Dolemite themed Oh No album  Ohnomite released on Traffic Entertainment. Check the video for the song below.

For turntablist fans above is a first look at the forthcoming Beat Junkies documentary For The Record. Should be a goodie! Read full Amoeblog report here.  The scratch madness continues in the Big Apple in early August for what's been rightly dubbed the Ultimate DJ Battle Weekend (August 4th and 5th) when both the DMC US Finals and the Roc Raida Memorial Gong DJ Battle on the Saturday and Sunday respectively of that first weekend in August - again being held at Le Poisson Rouge on Bleecker Street in the Village. Today and tomorrow Amoeba regular DJ Quest will be overseeing a series of unique performances and Q&A sessions at the Monterey County, CA public libraries.
