Directed by award-winning documentarian, Amir Bar-Lev (The Tillman StoryMy Kid Could Paint That), produced in association with Grammy's and presented by Hyundai Veloster, Re:Generation Music Project examines music’s past, present and future, while yielding five revolutionary collaborations in the process. In the film, The Crystal Method, DJ Premier, Pretty Lights, Mark Ronson, and Skrillex use technology to mix musical styles and generations for the creation of five original tracks that are nothing short of magical.

Skrillex is assigned the rock genre and heads into a Los Angeles studio with members of the iconic rock band, The Doors. Their collaboration on "Breakn’ A Sweat" marked the first recording the remaining members of The Doors had worked on in over 30 years.

The Crystal Method were given R&B and flew to Detroit to work with Martha Reeves of The Vandellas and The Funk Brothers on "I’m Not Leaving." The Crystal Method and Martha Reeves had very different approaches to writing lyrics and their collaboration showed the challenges artists can face trying to find common ground. The Crystal Method also showed what separates electronic musicians from others—the ability to go back into what’s been recorded and work their magic—turning it into something so different from where it originally stood.

Mark Ronson has an extensive history of collaborating with artists, but he only had three days to meet with the other artists, create and perform the new song. What emerged was a southern brew of New Orleans jazz called "A La Modeliste" featuring Erykah Badu, Trombone Shorty, Mos Def, Zigaboo Modeliste, and members of The Dap Kings.

DJ Premier was handed the genre of classical music, which he’d had a little experience in before. But this new collaboration saw DJ Premier immersed in the process as he learned to appreciate the narrative structure and architecture of classical music and ultimately conducting the Berklee Symphony Orchestra with NAS providing the vocals.

The documentary culminates in Nashville with Pretty LIghts working in what was arguably the hardest genre to re-imagine: country music. But Pretty Lights found himself being drawn in by the haunting and timeless voice of Dr. Ralph Stanley on the dusty intergalactic twang of "Wayfaring Stranger" (also featuring vocals from LeAnn Rimes).

The film opens nationwide for one-night only on Feb. 16, 2012, with encore screenings on Feb 23. You can see it in LA, Orange County, and San Francisco at the following theaters:
