Bill Wilson / Birmingham Blues

Birmingham Jug Band

Amoeba Review

05/12/2015

Birmingham Jug Band was one of the first groups to use a jug or other modified homemade instruments as a key accent to their sound. These two tracks recorded in Atlanta at the end of 1930 for an OKeh 78 showcase a raw, furtive sound that clearly exemplifies the wild nature of the Jug Band sound.
